How to Get a Good Night’s Sleep in Your Camper
While your camper may have a nice, comfortable bed in it, it may still be hard to sleep when you’re traveling. Noisy campgrounds with bright lights and lots of foot traffic can keep you awake, causing you to be groggy and irritable in the morning, which is not something you want on your vacation!
Sometimes, all it takes to nod off is a little bit of preparation and a few accessories to help you wind down and drift off to sleep. Try some of these tips to improve the quality of your sleep in your camper.
Get a Better Mattress
Sometimes, it’s the mattress that’s the problem. If you find that your camper’s standard mattress is old or not up to your standards, check out the manufacturer’s catalog to see if you can purchase a higher-quality mattress to replace it. You can check out springs or memory foam, depending on your preferences. Think about the mattress you have at home and the features it has when shopping for a new camper mattress so you can try to match them up.
You can also get better pillows, sheets, and blankets that are high-quality and soft and able to keep you comfortable while you sleep. Don’t use low-quality bedding in your camper just because it’s the cheapest option. Your sleep is really important, so this is one area you don’t want to skimp on.
Manage the Temperature
Sleeping in a room that is slightly cool is generally recommended by sleep experts, as it’s likely to help you fall asleep faster than a very warm room. In the summer, when your camper tends to heat up, you can set fans up around your bed to keep the air circulating. Consider getting a portable A/C unit just for the bedroom if you’re camping in hot weather often. Maintaining a comfortable temperature is conducive to good sleep.
Add Sleep Accessories
A good sleep mask that blocks out light can be a real boon when your curtains can’t block out the sun or spotlights. Earplugs are also very helpful in noisy areas. A lavender-scented spray made from essential oils can be sprayed onto your pillow to give you a calming and comforting aroma that can help you relax. Having a cup of chamomile tea and putting your phone away an hour before bed can also help.
