Living or traveling in an RV is certainly a different experience than staying in your house or apartment. You’ll still need to do chores, but how you do them won’t be exactly the same as at home. One chore that can be a little more difficult to do on an RV is laundry, particularly if your RV doesn’t already have a washer and dryer installed. As your local RV dealer, we’ve assembled the following tips to help you get your clothes clean on the road.

Hand-Wash & Line-Dry

The easiest way to do laundry is probably hand-washing and line-drying your clothes. You’ll need some laundry soap designed for hand-washing and a bucket that you can fill with warm or cold water. Make sure that you hang your clothes outside to dry; leaving wet clothes hanging in your RV can create condensation that leads to mildew and mold build-up.

Invest in a Portable Washer

Compact portable washing machines are great for camping, since they can be stored anywhere and they make faster work of washing small loads. You’ll probably need to do small loads often to get your clothes clean, but it shouldn’t take too long.

Find a Laundromat

If you’re lucky, the campground you’re staying in might have laundry facilities on-site, which will make your life a lot easier. However, if you’re boondocking or you’re traveling in or near a city, it will make more sense to find a nearby laundromat that you can take your clothes to. Bring some games to play or a book to read while you wait.
